Books (in my opinion) are a one of the greatest resources God has given us to help us grow. Biblically sound books, alongside the bible, and regular church attendance, only can bring new knowledge and wisdom to our daily living! I find myself often with 2-4 different books on my night stand that I am trying to read and get through.
I love to read, but as of lately I have noticed, that I need to really be intentional with getting into the books I have. I usually catch myself spending way too much time on social media and not enough time in the Word, or in a good book! I am working to make it a habit to keep the phone down when I head into my room for the night, and to pick up a book instead, and read it for at least 10-20 minutes before we turn the lights out for bed. So are you interested in what I have been reading lately?
Books I am Reading
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality: When I started this book it was really hard for me to get into, and honestly, I still struggle at picking it up to finish. However, it has been incredible how this book has made me aware of the way my feelings and my past affect my tone, and my decision making. Mostly this book has made me very aware of the way I react to situations in the home with Joshua. It has made me aware of the way I react to a certain situation and why. This book has taught me to recall my actions, and through that dig dipper into where those emotions are coming from. It has also taught me how to filter and gage through my emotions, the healthy and the none.
Boundaries With Kids: So far so good, I am about three chapters in and it has been so insightful. I started this book based on the ideas of learning how to set firm but loving perimeters and consequences for my daughters actions. Yes Emma is only one, but that little girl knows how to test, and is testing all boundaries from every angle.
I picked up this book with the desire to help encourage and enable Emma to build a solid God honoring character. This book covers the ins and outs on how to shape that character, as well as live out productive and healthy lives.

Books I Always Return to
Lies Women Believe | and the Truth that Sets Them Free: This book will never leave my night stand. It is absolutely an incredible book. From cover to cover it is filled with so much truth. It challenges me each and everyday to evaluate every aspect of my life as a woman. It challenges me to check my heart and see if it lines up with scripture. In the beginning this book opened my eyes up to so many lies I was believing! It’s scary and unsettling just how many of those lies have made it into the church.
Idols of the Heart: Idols of our time don’t always look the same as the idols we see in the old and new testament. Our idols of today look very differently but they still serve the same purpose as they did in the old days. They take the place and the fulfillment of God. This book is another one that is filled with so much wisdom, it’s overwhelming! It gives insight to areas of our heart we might have never thought to evaluate. This book was so eye opening and convicting!
Girl Defined: This is another life changing book! Before this book I had never even thought the question, “why did God create woman,” or ” what is the purpose of a woman”. Isn’t that crazy? Well, guess what God answers that in the first couple of chapters of the bible, and once I understood what He meant, it totally changed my life. This book is filled with such truth and wisdom, it is a must read for every woman!
